I ended up planning out much of the code in the project ahead of time.

What’s Up Next?

Simply put, procedural generation. The image below shows my plan for the rooms needed, and once those are completed, code to randomly select new rooms as you play can be implemented.

Development Version Notes

Notes:

  • Click the title on the main screen 15 times to activate debug/dev mode.
  • Press ‘ALT’ in the second area (after defeating the statue) to try out fire magic. Press ‘F’ to toggle the different types of magic.
  • The zero numeral key temporarily cycles the available melee weapons for debug.

 

Known Issues:

  • Still working on the player customization screen, which currently requires the use of the arrows/plus-minus to the left and right rather than clicking on the icons.
  • The particle system has been causing lag. Until this is fixed, particles such as footsteps, hit animations, blood, debris and etc are disabled.
  • There is currently no sound.
  • In this version of the demo, the player is invincible.
  • The large sword only works on the jab animation (just haven’t made the hitbox yet).
  • The statue’s damage range is a radius, and not yet tied to the hammer.

  • Added support for arrow key mapping
  • Fixed ALT key
  • Added 2 types of fire magic
  • Tweaks to shadows
